Use your FPGA skills for ultraprecise optical fibre sensing DSP in Bristol; to £90,000 DoE + benefits. With applications in industry and national infrastructure protection, this Bristol-based company's technology can turn legacy fibre-optics into high precision long distance sensors. As their business continues to grow, they are seeking a highly experienced FPGA Engineering Lead to join their team.
This fully on-site role combines hands-on FPGA design with team leadership and ownership of the development process, mentoring of less experienced colleagues, and a substantial influence over future product architecture. You'll be working closely with colleagues from the Machine Learning and RF teams. Your technology focus will be highly optimised FPGA designs for digitally transforming raw optical signals to inputs suitable for machine learning algorithms. You will be working with technologies such as RFSoCs and SDRs with FPGAs from AMD/Xilinx, and will need excellent design skills, hands-on lab skills, and fluency in VHDL.
You will need:
- A good degree in electronics or a similarly applicable subject from a well-regarded university and strong grades at A-level (or equivalent).
- Very substantial Xilinx RFSoC and/or software defined radio (SDR) systems experience.
- Solid understanding of DSP techniques and their mathematical underpinnings.
- Fluency in VHDL, and good knowledge of designing with Xilinx/AMD; hands-on electronics lab skills.
- Full existing right to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship.
- Eligibility for a UK SC security clearance due to defence and government work.
Based in pleasant offices on the outskirts of Bristol, this would be a good opportunity for a skilled engineer looking to progress further into team and technical leadership whilst staying hands-on with world-leading technology. A highly competitive salary is on offer to the successful candidate.
