Engaging technical communication on scientific topics with a commercial audience

This role will suit a communicative, technical and detail-oriented science graduate with excellent communication skills and a penchant for technical writing.

You’d be joining the product team of a successful Cambridgeshire company with a leading global presence in advanced materials for use in engineering and research.

The role focuses on outreach and communication of relevant, engaging science and engineering topics, relating to the company’s impressive portfolio of products and services.

Building on existing content frameworks and guidelines, content will be aimed at a wide audience of potential customers and collaborators.

Technical accuracy is crucial, as is the ability to tell an engaging and accessible story.

Social media and optimisation for search engines and AI will facilitate broader syndication and citation.

Your CV will show you have

  • A good degree in a STEM subject from a top university, ideally in Materials Science with Physics, Engineering, Chemistry and similar subjects also positives.
  • The equivalent of 1-2 years’ technical writing experience; this might be from a master’s dissertation, personal blog, or a prior role as a technical author.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible terms in an engaging way.
  • Enthusiasm for science and storytelling, and a genuine interest in engaging with online technical communities.
  • Some familiarity with topics such as SEO, and ideally experience with relevant tools and CMS systems.

Any additional skills in GEO, content analytics and engagement, customer conversion are also helpful.

This is a full time role at the company’s modern offices, 30 minutes from Cambridge and with good transport links.

In addition to a competitive salary and strong benefits package, hybrid working is available, up to 3 days from home per week from month two.

Full UK work permission is required without time limit or sponsorship.
