Developing innovative electronics for satellite and cellular telecommunications in Cambridge City (parking available); £DoE + Excellent Benefits.
Are you interested in the communications systems sector, whereby projects could contribute to advanced satellite technologies, warehouse robotics, or voice detection systems (to name but a few)? This leading technology company provides expertise across engineering to successfully deliver new innovations. They are currently looking to hire a Senior Digital Electronics Engineer to join them. This is both a technical and client-facing role (hence would suit someone with past commercial consultancy experience).
Responsibilities:
- Technical specification, contributions to architecture, and technical leadership on projects which would revolve around communications engineering (software, signal processing, AI, RF engineering and relevant testing).
Requirements:
- Strong academic university background in electronics (or similar), ideally to PhD level. Must have an excellent understanding of electronics theory and fundamentals.
- Extensive real-world project experience with electronic circuit design including high-speed design, high-level layout and FPGA design and verification.
- Expertise in several of the following:
- Use of application processors, FPGAs and SoCs for data throughput and power consumption.
- Embedded interconnects such as DDR4, QSPI, PCIe, JESD204.
- ECAD tools (ideally Altium Designer) for PCB layout.
- C and Python on Linux (ideally embedded programming).
- Verilog / VHDL.
- DSP applied to RF.
- Any additional past consultancy project experience would be advantageous. Similarly, if you have worked on defence projects and have been previously security cleared, that would be desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career, where you can work on varied and interesting projects, with extensive in-house resources (prototype PCB manufacture, EMC emissions test facility, custom anechoic test chamber, and prototype mechanical workshop). There may be additional opportunities over time to take on aspects of people management, leadership and mentorship as part of the company’s support policy on employee careers.
On offer is a competitive salary and wide-ranging benefits including medical cover, life insurance and bonuses. Due to the nature of projects, the role is based onsite although occasional home-working is possible with manager’s consent. Their office site has onsite parking and is close to bus and train links.
