ECM Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in Hendon, Barnet for an experienced and passionate SENCO to join their team from September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The school is part of a federation of schools, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across the federation, share best practice and contribute to the continued development of high-quality SEND provision.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENCO or SEND leader who is passionate about inclusive education and ensuring that every child is given the support and opportunity to thrive.

The Role

As SENCO, you will take the lead on SEND provision across the school, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, parents and external professionals.

  • Leading and developing SEND provision across the school.
  • Coordinating support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Managing EHCP applications, reviews and individual provision plans.
  • Supporting and advising teachers on inclusive and adaptive teaching.
  • Leading, supporting and developing teaching assistants.
  • Monitoring interventions and pupil progress to ensure provision is having a positive impact.
  • Working closely with parents, the Local Authority and external professionals.
  • Supporting behaviour management and the emotional wellbeing of pupils.
  • Ensuring effective provision for vulnerable pupils.
  • Delivering SEND training, coaching and support to staff.
  • Contributing to safeguarding and the wider leadership of the school.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the three-school federation to develop and share best practice.

About You

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have strong experience working with pupils with SEND within a primary school setting.
  • Hold the relevant SENCO qualification, or meet the requirements to undertake it.
  • Have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Are confident managing EHCPs and working with external agencies.
  • Are an excellent classroom practitioner.
  • Have strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Can coach, support and inspire teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Are passionate about improving outcomes for children with SEND.
  • Have a positive, proactive and collaborative approach.
