Eclipse is seeking an experienced and highly capable Scenic Operations Manager to lead the operational planning, coordination, and successful delivery of scenic projects across a wide range of live events, productions, and experiential environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the intake, scheduling, coordination, and operational readiness of all scenic work — including inbound projects from partner companies — ensuring seamless integration with current workshop activity and wider business priorities.

Working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, the Scenic Operations Manager will play a critical role in aligning project requirements, workshop capacity, logistics, and production timelines to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest operational standards.

Working in close partnership with the Scenic Workshop Manager, this role will ensure projects move effectively through the workshop and wider business, balancing competing priorities while maintaining strong communication, accountability, and operational control.

The Scenic Operations Manager will:

  • Take ownership of all inbound scenic projects, particularly partner-company work, ensuring accurate intake, prioritisation, planning, and integration with existing in-house workloads.
  • Lead operational scheduling and resource coordination across concurrent scenic projects, balancing workshop capacity, logistics, deadlines, and business priorities.
  • Act as the key operational conduit between Production Management, Project Teams, Logistics, Warehouse, and Scenic Workshop functions to ensure alignment and clarity across delivery.
  • Ensure all projects are operationally planned and prepared to a high standard prior to dispatch and site delivery, minimising risk and enabling efficient execution.
  • Maintain clear visibility of workshop loading, project timelines, labour requirements, and delivery risks, escalating issues proactively and constructively.
  • Make informed and timely decisions under pressure, effectively prioritising workload and resolving operational conflicts across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Champion safe working practices and compliance, ensuring operational planning aligns with workshop and site Health & Safety requirements.
  • Lead the operational planning and coordination of scenic projects from intake through to successful delivery, ensuring alignment between production requirements, workshop capacity, logistics, and programme timelines.
  • Act as a senior operational lead within the Scenic department, supporting the Director of Scenic Operations in maintaining efficient workflows, prioritisation, and delivery standards.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project movement across the Scenic Workshop, ensuring workloads are balanced and resources are deployed effectively.
  • Support the Scenic Production Co-Ordinator for freelance coordination and labour planning in line with project demand and workshop loading.
  • Identify and proactively resolve operational bottlenecks, risks, and scheduling conflicts before they impact delivery.

Project Intake & Delivery

  • Take ownership of inbound scenic work, particularly projects from partner companies, ensuring requirements are understood, documented, and integrated into workshop schedules.
  • Review project scopes, technical information, timelines, and operational requirements to determine feasibility and appropriate delivery planning.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed timelines, maintaining clear oversight of delivery milestones and escalating risks where required.
  • Ensure scenic projects are prepared to a high operational standard prior to site, supporting smooth installation and reducing on-site inefficiencies.

Operational Planning & Scheduling

  • Own scenic workflow scheduling, capacity planning, and delivery readiness, ensuring inbound and internal projects are prioritised in line with workshop capability, business needs, and deadlines.
  • Maintain oversight of workshop loading, labour allocation, subcontractor requirements, logistics, and key delivery milestones across concurrent projects.
  • Work closely with the Scenic Workshop Manager to coordinate project sequencing, balancing technical requirements, operational priorities, and available resources.
  • Ensure all projects are fully prepared for dispatch, transport, and site delivery, with accurate documentation, inventories, and operational paperwork completed to a high standard.
  • Coordinate logistics with Warehouse, Transport, Production, and project teams to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
  • Monitor competing priorities, proactively identifying risks, resolving bottlenecks, and adapting plans to maintain delivery performance.
  • Maintain oversight of scenic stock, reusable assets, and operational inventory to maximise efficiency and resource utilisation.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the Scenic Workshop Manager to ensure compliance and safe systems of work are maintained.
  • Proactively identify and escalate operational risks that may impact safe delivery.

Communicate project status, risks, timeline changes, and operational requirements clearly and proactively. Attend project meetings, planning sessions, site visits, and client-facing discussions where required. Ensure all operational planning aligns with Eclipse Health & Safety standards and relevant UK legislation. Ensure operational readiness supports safe workshop and site execution, including consideration of RAMS, logistics planning, and safe handling requirements.

There is a requirement for the Scenic Operations Manager to be on call during agreed periods, which may result in occasional weekend, evening and overnight work according to the changing needs of the business.

Work on high-profile, creative, and technically challenging live events.
