Eclipse Power Networks Ltd are an OFGEM licenced Electricity Independent Distribution Network Operator working within the UK energy industry. We design, own, operate and maintain extra high, high and low voltage electricity distribution network assets, providing power connections to residential, industrial, renewable and commercial customers across the UK.

Job Purpose:

This is a broad, hands-on in-house role where you’ll sit right alongside the business not off to the side. You’ll work across commercial contracts, projects, regulatory questions and day-to-day legal issues, helping teams move quickly and make well informed decisions. Expect variety, pace and responsibility from day one, with support and autonomy to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements across the business EPC, asset adoption, frameworks, NDAs, consultancy agreements and more.
  • Not just spotting risk but helping the team navigate it.
  • Partnering with commercial, technical and finance colleagues to structure and deliver projects.
  • Translating legal complexity into clear, practical advice.
  • Supporting new platforms, partnerships and growth initiatives.
  • Getting involved in transactions, JVs and strategic deals where needed.
  • Supporting on regulatory and compliance issues, particularly in UK energy.
  • Keeping things moving without over-engineering.
  • Being the go-to for general legal queries across the business.
  • Building smarter ways of working, templates, playbooks, processes.
  • Making legal an enabler, not a bottleneck.

Essential:

  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent), 2–6 years’ PQE.
  • Background in private practice and/or in-house.
  • Strong experience with commercial contracts.
  • A commercial mindset with a focus on delivering practical outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A proactive problem solver who identifies practical solutions.
  • Comfortable working directly with non-legal teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal matters clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure or renewables.
  • Exposure to regulated environments (e.g. UK energy / Ofgem).
  • Experience working on projects or construction-related matters.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance work.
  • Experience in a fast-moving or growing business.
  • Interest in international expansion.
