Eclipse Power Networks Ltd are an OFGEM licenced Electricity Independent Distribution Network Operator working within the UK energy industry. We design, own, operate and maintain extra high, high and low voltage electricity distribution network assets, providing power connections to residential, industrial, renewable and commercial customers across the UK.

Job Purpose:
This role carries accountability for supporting Eclipse Power Group's engagement with regulatory policy development and industry consultations across the UK energy sector. The Policy Lead will work closely with the Director of Regulation, Policy & External Affairs to monitor regulatory developments, analyse emerging policy changes and support the organisation's responses to consultations and regulatory initiatives. The role will ensure Eclipse maintains strong awareness of policy developments affecting electricity networks, energy infrastructure and the wider energy transition. Through research, analysis and engagement with industry forums, the Policy Lead will help ensure Eclipse is well positioned within the evolving regulatory environment.
Working across the Eclipse Group, the Policy Lead will support internal teams by providing clear regulatory insight and policy analysis that informs strategic decision making and supports effective engagement with regulators and industry stakeholders.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Regulatory and Policy Monitoring
- Monitor regulatory developments, consultations and policy changes affecting the UK electricity and energy infrastructure sectors.
- Track developments from organisations including Ofgem, DESNZ, NESO, ENA, Distribution Network Operators and Transmission Owners.
- Provide regular updates and briefings to internal stakeholders on emerging regulatory changes and policy developments.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities for the Eclipse Group arising from regulatory change.
- Consultation Responses and Policy Engagement
- Support the development of Eclipse's responses to regulatory consultations and policy initiatives.
- Coordinate input from across the organisation to ensure consultation responses reflect operational, commercial and strategic perspectives.
- Draft consultation responses, briefing papers and policy position documents.
- Support the Director of Regulation, Policy & External Affairs in representing Eclipse in industry consultations and working groups.
- Policy Analysis and Strategic Insight
- Analyse regulatory frameworks and policy proposals affecting electricity networks, infrastructure delivery and energy markets.
- Provide insight that helps internal teams understand the implications of regulatory change.
- Prepare internal briefings that support leadership decision making on regulatory and policy developments.
- Support the development of policy positions that align with Eclipse's strategic priorities.
- Industry Engagement
- Support Eclipse's participation in industry forums, regulatory working groups and policy discussions.
- Build working relationships with policy teams across regulators, network operators and industry bodies.
- Contribute to collaborative initiatives that support improvements in the regulatory and policy environment for energy infrastructure.
- Help ensure Eclipse maintains strong visibility within industry discussions.
- Internal Coordination
- Work closely with teams across Eclipse Power Group including delivery, engineering, commercial and strategy functions.
- Ensure regulatory insight and policy updates are communicated effectively across the organisation.
- Support internal stakeholders in interpreting regulatory developments and understanding policy implications.
- Help embed regulatory awareness across the business.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Essential:
- Excellent understanding of the UK energy sector or regulated infrastructure industries.
- Experience analysing regulatory policy or working with regulatory frameworks.
- Extensive research and analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex policy and regulatory documents.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce consultation responses and briefing papers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to track multiple policy developments simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate complex regulatory topics in a clear and practical way.
Desirable:
- Experience working with organisations such as Ofgem, DESNZ, ENA, NESO or electricity network operators.
- Understanding of electricity network regulation, grid connections or energy infrastructure development.
- Experience supporting regulatory consultations or policy engagement.
- Background in energy policy, regulation or infrastructure sectors.
