About Eclipse: With a company-wide ambition to outshine for our customers and partners, we are committed to continually raising the bar in how we work and what we deliver. Eclipse Power is a proud market leader in the UK energy sector, providing expert grid consultancy and delivering private network and microgrid solutions, as well as operating as an OFGEM licensed Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO). We offer specialised technical expertise at every stage of the customer journey, from advice and support on initial project viability, to design through to adoption and maintenance and everything in between. Our strong reputation, skilled workforce, innovative digital technology, and established industry regulatory relationships underpin the service we provide, and we are passionate and committed to delivering safe, reliable and high-quality solutions for our customers and partners. Our people are our most important asset.
Job Purpose: Own, govern and continuously develop the Asset Value (AV) pricing model and bid calculator that underpins Eclipse’s commercial quoting, ensuring bids remain robust, auditable and aligned to approved pricing parameters and target returns. Bring a data-driven approach to bid strategy and returns optimisation, partnering with the Business Development team to improve win rates while protecting project IRR and balancing long-term growth with commercial value. Provide commercial and financial insight across the portfolio — analysing live contract performance, new market opportunities and regulatory developments — to inform pricing strategy, business planning and wider decision‑making.
Key responsibilities:
- Pricing Model Ownership & Governance: Lead the maintenance, enhancement and ongoing development of the Asset Value (AV) pricing model / bid calculator used by the BD team, ensuring it remains a reliable and robust quoting tool while adapting to the evolving market sectors in which Eclipse operates. Provide governance and oversight over all quotes issued by BD, ensuring they adhere to approved pricing parameters and meet minimum return thresholds. Lead and oversee the approval process for changes to input assumptions within the AV calculator, maintaining version control and an auditable change log.
- Data-Driven Assumptions & Feedback Loop: Develop and maintain a feedback process that continually reviews, tests and enhances the model’s input assumptions as new data becomes available, helping to keep Eclipse’s commercial proposition competitive. Analyse overall network consumption levels, including peak versus off-peak usage, against original assumptions and feed findings back into the model. Benchmark DUoS tariffs (in collaboration with the Regulation team) for the private network business and undertake annual analysis of tariff changes and their impact on the Eclipse portfolio.
- Bid Strategy, Returns Optimisation & Deal Support: Support the BD team in optimising project return thresholds (IRR) on bids, balancing long-term business growth with maximising project returns. Support the BD function in embedding a data-driven approach to sales strategy and commercial decision‑making. Support BD in negotiations with customers and key stakeholders, providing commercial insight and recommendations to improve win rates. Provide ad‑hoc modelling support to the BD team for unique or bespoke commercial arrangements on live opportunities.
- Performance Analysis & Portfolio Insight: Analyse the performance of live contracts against their original AV bids to assess whether project returns are meeting expectations and track the revenue and IRR performance of existing assets against forecast returns. Analyse operational targets (energisation, adoptions and capex paid) and compare performance against actual outcomes. Use insights generated to identify opportunities for improvement within live projects and inform future bidding parameters and commercial decision‑making.
- Private Networks, New Markets & Business Planning: Support pricing strategies within the Eclipse Power Optimise private networks business. Assess new market opportunities and support the commercial development of the business across new geographies, sectors and markets. Participate in the development of future pricing strategies and business planning activities.
- Regulatory & Lobbying Support: Support the regulatory and lobbying activities of Eclipse Power, providing commercial and economic analysis as required.
- Reporting, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare high‑quality ad‑hoc commercial analysis and insight as required. Support the Executive Team with KPI packs and responses to shareholder enquiries. Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, customers, service providers, local authorities and other key stakeholders. Work collaboratively across Eclipse to build positive relationships, share knowledge and support informed decision‑making.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Essential: Knowledge of the IDNO industry and wider grid infrastructure landscape. Strong financial modelling skills, with proven experience building, maintaining and stress‑testing complex pricing or valuation models in Excel and analysing investment returns (IRR, NPV, payback). Demonstrable experience in commercial finance, investment or pricing analysis, with the ability to turn data and assumptions into clear, well‑reasoned commercial recommendations. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Desirable: ACA or ACCA. Understanding of DUoS tariffs, energy network charging and the OFGEM regulatory framework. Experience within the energy, utilities or infrastructure sector, ideally in a regulated network or IDNO/DNO environment. Experience using data visualisation or BI tools (e.g. Power BI) to present commercial insight and support decision‑making.
