A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Test Engineer to join a department within a leading technology organisation to support the delivery of high-quality testing across manual and automated frameworks on both new and legacy platforms. This role performs the duties of the Senior Test Engineer and reports to the senior engineering function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing and executing functional, regression, system, and performance tests to ensure product compliance with industry and technical standards
- Testing software solutions and applications to ensure requirements are met and defects are identified and resolved
- Reviewing and interpreting requirements documentation from Product Definition, Product Strategy, and external test teams
- Supporting test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting to stakeholders
- Producing and maintaining test documentation and quality metrics reporting
- Developing and executing manual and automated test cases across LTE and TETRA-based products
- Collaborating with software, hardware, and systems engineers to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects
- Maintaining test environments, infrastructure, and test equipment availability
- Participating in design and requirements reviews to improve testability and quality outcomes
- Mentoring junior test engineers and contributing to team capability growth
- Occasional travel to support testing activities and stakeholders
The ideal candidate would have:
- 5+ years’ experience in manual and automation testing, ideally within embedded systems, telecoms, or mission-critical applications
- Strong experience in manual testing methodologies for embedded software and hardware products
- Exposure to telecommunications technologies such as TETRA and LTE (highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of Agile development environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive technical feedback
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Experience in API and backend testing
The ideal candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related discipline
- Experience using test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or Jama
- Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, Postman, or JMeter
- Understanding of communication interfaces such as TCP/IP, UDP, serial, or Bluetooth
- Ability to read and interpret technical requirements documentation
- Full UK driving licence, own vehicle, and valid passport (travel required)
- ISTQB certification (preferred but not mandatory)
