A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Systems Performance Engineer to join a systems engineering team, providing performance prediction and analysis expertise to major defence programmes developing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats across all domains (Air, Land, Sea). This role spans concept, assessment and demonstration phase contracts, covering one of the product lines, with System Performance forming an essential part of the system design process and a key indicator of design suitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and conducting technical studies into missile performance, using complex mathematical models, to help the project understand key system design choices
  • Developing a good understanding of how the wider system affects performance and the knock-on impacts of changes to the design
  • Working with SMEs in Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Lethality, Guidance, Control Navigation, Seekers (and others) to understand how each of these contribute to system performance
  • Reporting performance data in a clear and concise way in internal design reviews and external performance statements to customers
  • Using your expertise to help develop training material for new engineers
