A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Software Testing Engineer to join an Integration & Missile Validation (IMV) team within a Weapon Systems Simulation & Experimentation (WSSE) department, providing systems integration and testing for digital simulation and experimentation products. This is a dynamic and growing area, with the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, from concept demonstration and product development through to systems integration and customer training. You'll be responsible for the end-to-end software testing and proving lifecycle for one or more products within software simulation and emulation environments. Key Responsibilities: · Working from formal requirements and customer needs to develop comprehensive software test plans, designs and specifications · Understanding software design and architecture, including defining software test bed requirements · Carrying out progressive software testing assurance throughout development cycles · Leading technical investigations into software defects and emergent behaviours · Supporting software integration, trials and demonstrations with engineering partners and customers · Analysing software logs and data to identify issues and demonstrate compliance with requirements · Executing formal software qualification testing · Providing regular updates to project leads and stakeholders on software functionality and progress · Producing detailed software test and analysis reports for certification purposes · Supporting software delivery and release processes, including final certification activities The ideal candidate would have: · Experience working with simulation or emulation environments · Experience of software testing within the Defence industry · Engineering testing experience · Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development · Experience using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, IBM PLM/ALM/ETM, DOORS and JIRA · Experience with software logs and data analysis, statistics and CI/CD software pipelines · Knowledge of tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Visio · ISTQB or another relevant software testing certification The ideal candidate must have: · Experience in end-to-end software testing at scale, ideally across large and complex programmes · Experience working as a Software Developer in Test (SDET) · Strong Python coding experience · Understanding of Docker · Experience with ALM, requirements and test management tools including HP, IBM ALM/ETM, DOORS and JIRA · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate software defects and identify issues This position offers a lucrative benefits package, which includes but is not limited to: · Salary circa £42,000 - £50,000 depending on experience · Company bonus of up to £2,500, based on company performance · Strong employer pension contribution, with maximum total contributions of up to 14% · Opportunity for paid overtime · Generous flexi leave allowance, with up to 15 additional days · Hybrid working, with 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification · Flexible working arrangements welcomed · Enhanced parental leave, including maternity, adoption, shared parental, paternity and neonatal leave · Support for fertility testing and treatments · Excellent on-site facilities, including subsidised meals and free car parking · Healthcare Cash Plan covering everyday healthcare expenses including optical, dental, health and wellbeing If this role looks like your next challenge, please contact Jack ASAP or apply via this advert!
