Job Description

We are supporting a Cambridge College in their search for a highly organised and detail-oriented Head of Governance. This vital role reports directly into the Bursar, providing support on all areas of governance and compliance.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\n * Provide professional committee support to the Governing Body, Council, Finance Committee, and sub-committees.\\n\\n * Prepare and circulate high-quality agendas, papers, and minutes in line with agreed timelines.\\n\\n * Maintain the annual schedule of meetings and ensure coordination across all committees.\\n\\n * Manage committee memberships, elections, and trustee records, including updates to the Charity Commission.\\n\\n * Ensure the College meets all statutory and regulatory requirements, including those of the Charity Commission, FOI, and data protection.\\n\\n * Lead on records management and data protection policies, ensuring compliance and best practice.\\n\\n * Support the induction and ongoing training of trustees.\\n\\n * Liaise with College Officers, the Communications Manager, and other departments to ensure clear communication of governance matters.\\n\\n * Stay up to date with developments in higher education and charity sector regulation.\\n\\nThe ideal candidate will have\\n\\n * Educated to degree level (ideally within law) or equivalent professional experience.\\n\\n * Proven experience in governance, compliance, or committee administration, ideally in higher education or the charity sector.\\n\\n * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.\\n\\n * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including minute-taking and report writing.\\n\\n * Sound understanding of data protection and FOI requirements.\\n\\n * Discretion, diplomacy, and professionalism in handling sensitive matters.\\n\\n * Experience using SharePoint is desirable\\n\\nIf this sounds like the next step in your career, please apply via the advert or get in touch with Emma at Eclectic Recruitment.
