Our client, a global organisation is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. This is a full time, permanent position.
Key duties will include but are not limited to:
- Support with the on-going product design and development efforts.
- Assist with reviewing and improving high volume manufacturing efforts.
- Creation of engineering documents to suit production and project needs.
- Support and communicate with other colleagues on other tasks when required.
- Continually review and refine components by carrying out testing and experiments.
- Drive activity in relation to continual quality improvements.
- Design, prototype and set up production jigs.
- Take ownership for small-medium engineering tasks with a view over scheduling, budgets and resources.
The successful candidate will have:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree BSc / BEng / HND qualification or relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience.
- A good understanding of high reliability micro-fabrication techniques.
- Excellent communicational skills.
- Understanding and practical use of mechanical calculations such as: Torque, deformation, stress and heat transfer.
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD package is essential.
- Experience in dimensioning complex parts with GD&T.
- Experience using PDM systems with CIMdb being advantageous.
- Understanding of a deep range manufacturing techniques such as assembly and the materials process.
- Understanding and practical experience in precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.
