Our client, a global organisation is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. This is a full time, permanent position.

Key duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Support with the on-going product design and development efforts.
  • Assist with reviewing and improving high volume manufacturing efforts.
  • Creation of engineering documents to suit production and project needs.
  • Support and communicate with other colleagues on other tasks when required.
  • Continually review and refine components by carrying out testing and experiments.
  • Drive activity in relation to continual quality improvements.
  • Design, prototype and set up production jigs.
  • Take ownership for small-medium engineering tasks with a view over scheduling, budgets and resources.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree BSc / BEng / HND qualification or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience.
  • A good understanding of high reliability micro-fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent communicational skills.
  • Understanding and practical use of mechanical calculations such as: Torque, deformation, stress and heat transfer.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD package is essential.
  • Experience in dimensioning complex parts with GD&T.
  • Experience using PDM systems with CIMdb being advantageous.
  • Understanding of a deep range manufacturing techniques such as assembly and the materials process.
  • Understanding and practical experience in precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.
