A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lead IT Buyer to join a global engineering organisation, taking ownership of IT procurement activities across the UK and Europe.
Working within a collaborative procurement team, you will support the sourcing and management of a diverse range of technology categories, including software, hardware, cyber security, networks and IT services.
This role is responsible for leading end-to-end procurement projects, managing supplier relationships and supporting Category Managers in delivering strategic sourcing initiatives across an international business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement activities across a broad range of IT spend categories.
- Manage sourcing projects covering software, Saa S, hardware, cyber security, networks, AI, high performance computing and IT services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers across the UK and Europe.
- Support Category Managers by delivering complex procurement projects from tender through to contract award.
- Negotiate commercial agreements to achieve value, mitigate risk and ensure successful supplier performance.
- Work collaboratively with international procurement teams on cross-border sourcing initiatives.
- Travel within the UK and Europe as required for supplier and stakeholder meetings.
The ideal candidate would have
- Experience within IT procurement or a strong interest in developing a career within IT procurement.
- Experience managing indirect procurement categories.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiations.
- An understanding of technology procurement, including software, hardware or IT services.
- MCIPS qualification or be working towards achieving it.
- Experience working with international stakeholders or suppliers.
The ideal candidate must have
- Previous procurement or purchasing experience (within a 'Buyer' capacity).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to independently manage procurement projects from initiation through to completion.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required.
- Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance (British Citizenship).
