Are you a hands-on engineer with a strong attention to detail, motivated by proving complex systems in challenging environments? An opportunity has arisen to join a newly formed engineering team responsible for validating electromechanical products under extreme environmental and electromagnetic conditions. This role would suit someone who enjoys practical testing, working close to hardware, and translating real-world trial data into meaningful engineering evidence. You will join a growing systems integration and validation team, playing a key role in demonstrating that advanced actuator or electromechanical systems meet demanding performance and compliance requirements. Reporting into a senior proving lead, you will plan, conduct and report on trials throughout the product lifecycle, from early risk reduction through to formal qualification and certification.
Main Responsibilities
- Designing and planning bespoke test and trial activities, including defining instrumentation and stimuli
- Preparing systems and facilities for trials, including readiness reviews and safety documentation
- Coordinating hardware, software, test equipment and logistics required for test campaigns
- Supporting hands-on test setup and execution within specialist environmental and EMC facilities
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all testing and proving activities
- Analysing complex data sets to verify system performance against requirements
- Producing clear, structured technical reports to support development and certification
- Acting as a technical interface between internal stakeholders, customers and test facilities
- Communicating progress, issues and results clearly throughout trial activities
- Supporting or mentoring other engineers as the team expands
This role will particularly appeal to engineers who enjoy working with physical systems and understanding their behaviour in real-world electromagnetic and electrical environments. The position is largely site-based during active test campaigns, with occasional travel to external test facilities when required.
Qualifications
- A practical, hands-on engineering mindset with a passion for testing and validation
- Understanding of EMC and RF principles, vulnerabilities and test methods
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to planning and documentation
- Confident communicator, able to engage with technical specialists and non-specialists alike
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical data
- Curious, problem-solving approach with the ability to work through ambiguity
- Self-motivated and able to manage workload in a dynamic environment
- Desire to develop, improve and shape test and validation methodologies
- Experience working to recognised military, aerospace or industry EMC standards
- Background or strong knowledge in electronics, electrical engineering, RF, physics or similar
- Experience using specialist test equipment or facilities to replicate harsh operating environments
For security reasons, candidates must hold UK Citizenship to be considered for this role.
