A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Buyer to join a growing technology and communications business based in Cambridge. This position will play a key role in developing and managing a high-performing international supply chain, ensuring materials are available to support customer demand while driving supplier performance, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is responsible for managing key supplier relationships, supporting purchasing strategy, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials across the supply chain. Reporting into the Senior Buyer, the successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and global suppliers to support both current production and future product development activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage key supplier accounts and develop strong long-term supplier relationships
- Schedule and procure materials to support customer demand and production requirements
- Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and commercial terms with suppliers
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for supply chain efficiencies
- Process purchase orders and monitor supplier performance against agreed targets
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to maintain production schedules
- Manage stock ordering and support lean inventory management practices
- Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers to support business objectives
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and transition products into volume manufacture
- Analyse commodity market trends and assess potential supply chain risks
- Manage component obsolescence and develop mitigation strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the international supply base
- Support supply chain development activities with consideration for total cost of acquisition
- Level 4 CIPS qualification or be working towards completion
- Experience managing offshore contract manufacturing partners
- Experience supporting products through the full lifecycle from concept to volume manufacture
- Knowledge of commodity market analysis and supply chain risk management
- Experience within electronics, telecommunications, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Previous involvement in supplier development and continuous improvement programmes
- Proven supply chain, procurement, or purchasing experience within the electronics or telecommunications industry
- Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
- Experience managing international suppliers and global supply chains
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels internally and externally
- Excellent prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure
- Strong commercial awareness and experience delivering cost reduction initiatives
- Experience managing material availability to support customer demand
- A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally when required
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle
