We are partnering with a well-established London law firm who, as part of their continued expansion, are looking to recruit a Licensing Solicitor to join their specialist licensing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor to develop a long-term career advising clients across a wide range of licensing matters within a supportive and growing department.

They are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented solicitor with a genuine interest in licensing law, who is keen to build specialist expertise while working closely with senior colleagues and the Head of Department.

Typical duties for the role will include:

  • Providing clear, practical licensing advice to clients across the hospitality, entertainment, retail and leisure sectors.
  • Assisting with and preparing licensing applications, including premises licences, personal licences and event licences.
  • Liaising with Licensing Authorities and attending licensing hearings.
  • Taking client instructions and advising on compliance with the Licensing Act 2003 and other relevant legislation.
  • Representing clients in licensing disputes, including reviews, enforcement action and appeals before licensing committees and courts.
  • Drafting consent forms for Designated Premises Supervisors (DPS).
  • Drafting and arranging publication of statutory notices and ensuring correct display at premises.
  • Reviewing licences once granted and correcting any errors.
  • Maintaining accurate client records, file management and compliance with client care requirements.
  • Assisting with marketing and business development initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:

  • NQ - 1 PQE
  • Exposure to licensing law during training (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a genuine interest in developing a career in licensing law.
  • Ability to manage files accurately while complying with regulatory and professional obligations.
