We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Cambridge who are recruiting for a Qualified Accountant on a part-time basis. This is a fully office-based role with flexibility around how the hours are worked (3 full days a week). This is an opportunity to join a growing start-up, supporting the Finance Director with the day-to-day finance function and enabling them to focus on more strategic business activities.
Typical duties include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Managing transactional accounting duties including purchase and sales ledger oversight
- Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date
- Preparing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting
- Working closely with external accountants and advisors to ensure compliance requirements are met
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes including audit preparation where required
- Reviewing and improving accounting processes and financial controls
- Providing hands-on support across the finance function alongside the Finance Coordinator
- Assisting with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business growth
You will have:
- Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA status
- Previous experience within a hands-on accounting role, ideally within an SME or start-up environment
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to work across both transactional and reporting duties
- A proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with external accountants and internal stakeholders
