Hours: 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Are you looking for a role that will help maintain someone’s independence and make a real difference to their life? ECL Sensory Service are seeking caring people to join their team of Communicator Guides whose role is to support people with sight, hearing and dual sensory loss in the community.

The successful candidate will need to be available four of the five days (Monday to Friday) and be flexible with the hours they are available to work, to meet customer needs. Closing date - 30th November 2025

About You

What you’ll be doing as a Sensory Communicator Guide:

  • Working with people who have sight, hearing or dual sensory impairments.
  • Supporting people to maintain independence, access services such as health appointments and improve quality of life.
  • 1-1 support in the community across Essex and in hospital appointments across the region.
  • Activities could include assisting with shopping, finance or correspondence, accessing sports and leisure facilities or hospital appointments.

To be considered as Sensory Communicator Guide, you need:

  • Have previous care experience paid or unpaid
  • A full driving licence.
  • Access to a car to travel and transport customers.
  • To be a confident driver.
  • To be able to work on your own initiative out in the community as well as be able to fit in as part of an expanding team.
  • Enjoy working with people and are keen to enable independence.
  • Undertake induction training and Communicator Guide training.
  • British Sign Language (BSL) skills and/or qualifications would be advantageous to your application.
