Managing workload across several projects simultaneously, collaborating with clients, architects, and engineering consultants to deliver optimized roofing and waterproofing facade design outcomes. Supporting project managers on project deliverables; producing facade detailing, drawings, specifications, and reports, coordinated with all relevant parties to a high standard. Representing the company at workshops, design team meetings and site meetings. Carrying out site observations, roofing and waterproofing inspections, factory visits, witnessing of mock-ups and testing, and preparing technical reports. Developing and nurturing relationships with clients and external industry bodies. A willingness to travel for project site visits.

Our expanding Los Angeles team is looking for a Facade Engineer with consulting experience in roofing and waterproofing to support and lead the delivery of facade envelope design on a variety of high-profile local and international projects, ranging in both scale and scope.

Qualifications

  • US right to work and be based in the US.
  • A Degree or Masters, in Engineering or Architecture (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of technical experience in investigations, troubleshooting, design, and detailing (especially at transitions) of the following building envelope systems, materials, and applications:
    • Fenestrations, glazing and curtain wall systems
    • Air barriers and weather barriers
    • Cladding assemblies
    • Low-slope roofing
    • Plaza/terrace waterproofing
    • Traffic coatings
    • Green roofs
  • Working knowledge of US standards and industry guidelines.
  • Good understanding of design parameters for a range of roofing membranes, cladding materials, sealants, and waterproofing products.
  • Strong sketching and drawing skills using CAD software, as well as 3D modelling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Works effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to coordinated project delivery.
  • Ability to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of design and analysis tools, including facade detailing software, moisture and thermal analysis tools, and building physics assessment software.
  • Working knowledge of relevant design software, including for structural analysis.
  • Experience in the use of Revit and CAD software.
  • A keen interest in building envelope technology.
