The Opportunity:
The Storage & Virtualization Engineer is responsible for being the technical lead and escalation point for implementing and maintaining all aspects of our client’s Storage & Virtualization technology. In this role, you will support incidents, troubleshoot replication issues, SAN and Virtualization hardware/software installations/upgrades, and data migration.
The SVST Engineer interfaces with high-profile financial industry clients daily, requiring the highest level of presentation, communication, and professionalism. In addition, the Storage and Virtualization Engineer multitasks in a fast-paced environment and is exceedingly capable at learning and implementing new technologies quickly and efficiently.
In this hybrid role, you will have the enriching opportunity to collaborate with your ECI teammates – days per week in an ECI office.
What you will do:
- Implementation: Deploys/upgrades storage and virtualization solutions (production and disaster recovery) for new and existing Clients. Deploys/updates automation systems/scripts for storage and virtualization workflows.
- Maintenance: Monitors the performance, storage, and utilization of storage and virtualization, and recommends enhancements based on findings. Meets with clients and service teams to review findings and recommendations, and coordinates and schedules remediation work. Maintains client’s production and disaster recovery environment, including testing and turn-up. Contributes to knowledge base of support issues and resolutions.
- Troubleshooting: Supports recovery of clients’ environment in the event of system failure or disaster. Investigates performance issues and bottlenecks of client’s storage and virtualization infrastructure. Provides Tier escalation of Client’s Support Team to diagnose and resolve issues, coordinating with internal resources and vendors.
- Engages in self-directed continuous improvement and learning of Storage and Virtualization products: Investigates industry and ECI best practices, updates ECI standards, documents standards on ECI sharepoint or SNOW KBs, and participates in scheduled Support and Product Team meetings.
Who you are:
- BA/BS degree in computer science, business, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience in deploying and managing: NetApp ONTAP -mode/CDOT, EMC VNX/XtremIO, other enterprise storage solutions, VMware vSphere, Dell PowerEdge and HP Proliant servers, data backup and recovery software.
- Understanding of networking, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, server virtualization, client/server applications, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Experience with Cisco Ethernet networks, Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches.
- Understanding of Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server.
- Financial industry experience, familiarity with market vendor applications.
- Experience with Linux or Solaris.
- Scripting knowledge with PowerShell.
Product Specific:
- Thorough understanding of NetApp products and architectures including ONTAP, SnapCentre, SnapMirror, and OnCmd.
- Thorough understanding of VMware products including vSphere and ESXi.
- Knowledge of Nimble and EMC storage.
- In-depth knowledge of storage technologies: iSCSI, FC, FCoE, CIFS/SMB, NFS.
- Experience with other storage and virtualization products is desirable.
- Experience with NIX operating systems or Oracle databases is desirable.
