We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead a high‑value CHP and heating project in Leeds for a major blue‑chip client. This is a client‑facing role requiring strong mechanical expertise, adaptability, and exceptional stakeholder communication skills. The project contract has recently been signed and is now moving through a phase where programme variations are impacting cost and delivery timelines. The successful PM will be confident operating in a changing environment, providing calm, decisive leadership while maintaining transparency and trust with the end client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical delivery of a £3m CHP and heating project from mobilisation through to completion
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the end client and key stakeholders
  • Manage and communicate programme variations, including their impact on cost, scope, and delivery timelines
  • Maintain accurate reporting on progress, risks, and changes
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal delivery teams
  • Ensure health & safety, quality, and compliance standards are met throughout the project
  • Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Support commercial discussions relating to variations and revised programmes

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Project Manager on complex M&E projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of heating systems and CHP plant
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects under changing programmes and client-driven variations
  • Confident in client‑led environments with senior stakeholder exposure
  • Commercially aware, with experience influencing cost and programme outcomes
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, able to remain composed under pressure
