Technical Partners are working with an established engineering business to recruit an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their electrical and automation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical design engineer with strong EPLAN experience and an industrial engineering background to take a senior technical role, working on a range of projects from design through to manufacture and commissioning.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering detailed electrical designs and providing technical support across industrial projects.
You will also have the opportunity to lead and mentor a small team of electrical engineers, making this an ideal role for someone looking to combine hands-on electrical design with technical leadership.
Key responsibilities include
- Producing detailed electrical designs, drawings, calculations and specifications using EPLAN and Auto CAD.
- Designing electrical systems for industrial applications, including control and LV switchgear panels and cabling.
- Reviewing project requirements and developing fit-for-purpose electrical solutions.
- Supporting customer quotations and site visits where required.
- Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed budgets, specifications and timescales.
- Providing technical advice and reviewing electrical design submissions.
- Supporting electrical designs through panel manufacture and commissioning.
- Mentoring and supporting junior electrical engineers.
- Liaising with customers, project teams and internal stakeholders.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant technical, quality and health & safety requirements.
About You
We are looking for a technically strong Electrical Design Engineer who can work independently and take ownership of their work.
- Previous experience in a Senior Electrical Design Engineer or similar position.
- Strong EPLAN experience – this is essential to the role.
- Experience with Auto CAD or similar design software.
- A background in industrial engineering / industrial or process machinery.
- Experience within sectors such as oil & gas, food & beverage, manufacturing or process engineering would be highly advantageous.
- Experience designing control panels, LV systems and electrical installations.
- The ability to produce electrical drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
- Experience supporting projects through design, manufacture and/or commissioning.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to work autonomously and manage your own workload.
- Previous experience mentoring or leading other engineers would be advantageous.
