Buyer – Façades & Drylining
Location
Basildon, Essex (Office Based)
Salary
c£55,000 DOE + Package
Our client, a well-established specialist contractor operating within the façade and drylining sectors, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their growing team based at their Head Office in Basildon.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware construction purchasing professional looking to play a key role within a busy and successful business delivering projects across the UK.
Due to the company's purchasing software being server-based, this position will be fully office-based.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement of materials, plant and subcontract services for façade and drylining projects.
- Managing supplier relationships and negotiating favourable pricing and terms.
- Obtaining and analysing quotations to ensure best value procurement.
- Raising and managing purchase orders in line with project requirements.
- Monitoring supplier performance, delivery schedules and material availability.
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure procurement activities support project programmes.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and supply chain improvements.
- Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting activity as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within the construction industry.
- Experience within the façade sector is highly desirable.
- Drylining experience would be highly advantageous.
- Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and procurement schedules simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
