About Us
Our client specialises in the design and supply of high-quality aluminium curtain walling, windows, and doors for commercial and residential projects. We work with leading aluminium systems and pride ourselves on technical accuracy, buildability, and strong collaboration across design, production, and installation. As our workload continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Designer to join our design team and support the successful delivery of glazing projects from concept through to construction.
Role Overview
The Project Designer is responsible for producing, reviewing, and coordinating technical drawings and design information for aluminium glazing systems. This role involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, project managers, and internal teams to ensure designs meet specification, programme, and regulatory requirements. You will be trained in and work with a range of CAD and glazing-specific software, producing accurate and well-coordinated design packages suitable for construction and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Drawing Production
- Produce detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD LT and associated design software
- Develop construction issue drawings for both internal and external distribution
- Prepare and maintain accurate design documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Review client and consultant drawings to identify risks, clashes, and technical issues
- Review handover documentation and raise Requests for Information where required
- Review incoming RFIs and incorporate agreed responses into design outputs
- Support design scheduling in line with project programmes
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations, health and safety requirements, and industry standards
- Apply knowledge of curtain wall design, loads, and structural performance
- Provide technical input relating to system performance, fire strategy, and security requirements
- Work closely with project management, production, and installation teams
- Maintain high levels of accuracy, organisation, and document control
- Support continuous improvement through quality management system awareness
You will be involved in the design and detailing of aluminium systems including: Schueco, Technal, Seniors Architectural Systems, Metal Technologies. Training and system-specific development will be provided where required.
Skills and Experience
- Essential
- Previous experience in a design or draughting role within construction or façade systems
- Strong AutoCAD capability
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDF editing software
- Organised, analytical approach with strong attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with aluminium curtain walling, windows, and doors
- Familiarity with Logikal software
- Knowledge of Schueco systems and fittings
- Experience producing construction issue drawings
- CSCS Card
