This is a part-time, on-site Cardiologist role in non-invasive diagnostics based in Birmingham. The postholder will perform and interpret non-invasive cardiac investigations, including transthoracic echocardiography, ECGs, exercise testing, and Holter monitoring. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Reviewing referrals
- Assessing patients in clinic
- Performing investigations
- Providing clear, evidence-based reports to referring clinicians
The role involves participating in multidisciplinary discussions, contributing to clinical governance and audit activities, and supporting service improvement initiatives. The Cardiologist will work closely with the administrative teams to ensure safe, timely, and patient-focused diagnostic pathways.
Qualifications:
- Subspecialist training in Cardiology, ideally post CCT (specialist registration desirable), with significant experience in non-invasive cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography.
- Proficiency in performing and interpreting transthoracic echocardiograms and exercise ECGs; familiarity with other non-invasive modalities (e.g. cardiac CT/MRI reports) is advantageous.
- Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills, with the ability to synthesize clinical information and imaging findings into clear management recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, multidisciplinary colleagues, and external referrers.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines and professional standards.
- Ability to work independently in a high-throughput diagnostic environment while maintaining accuracy, safety, and compassion.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in cardiology or cardiac imaging (e.g., echocardiography accreditation) are highly desirable.
- Up-to-date professional registration, compliance with revalidation requirements, and a record of ongoing continuing professional development.
