Leading names from around the world rely on our product every day, including The Times, Le Monde, The Guardian, Vogue and many more.
Our Culture: We work with people who have stellar academic backgrounds, as well as the ability to think innovatively. About the Role: We are looking for a Product Engineer to help deliver our roadmap while improving how we build products by enabling better workflows, faster execution and higher-quality product decisions. This role combines product ownership with hands-on AI enablement across discovery, specifications, design, engineering, QA and more. You will help teams identify where AI can improve workflows, determine what context and structure it needs to be reliable, and integrate it into day-to-day work in ways that genuinely improve speed and quality. Alongside this, you will work closely with customers to understand user needs, identify valuable opportunities, shape solutions and guide delivery. As part of our team, you will own engineering projects, collaborate closely with other engineers, data scientists, designers and leadership to shape the future of Echobox. This role suits someone who is strategic, analytical and highly collaborative, with strong judgment and a clear ability to turn user needs and business goals into effective product decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own product work for key areas of Echobox, from identifying opportunities through launch and iteration.
- Develop a deep understanding of publishers, their workflows, their needs and the market we operate in.
- Speak with users, customers, and internal stakeholders to understand problems, workflows, and opportunities.
- Help adopt effective AI-enabled workflows across discovery, design, development, QA, documentation and delivery.
- Build the context, documentation, tooling and processes that make AI tools reliable and useful across teams.
- Work closely with Engineering and Design to shape solutions, manage trade-offs, and ensure high-quality execution.
- Contribute directly to technical implementations.
- Balance user value, commercial impact, technical complexity, delivery risk, and speed of execution.
- Write clear product requirements and ensure everyone involved understands the problem, the goal and the rationale.
- Help ensure the team is consistently focused on the highest-impact work.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong software engineering background and ability to contribute to technical discussions and implementations.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to connect user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Experience working in the media and journalism sector.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and AI-assisted workflows.
- Understanding of how AI tools use codebase context and structured knowledge to produce reliable outputs.
- Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex or ambiguous problems.
- Strong written communication and ability to produce clear product and technical documentation.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, define new processes and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience as a Product Engineer, technical Product Manager, AI Builder, Solutions Engineer or similar hybrid role.
- Background in publishing, media or newsroom-related products.
- Experience with implementing team workflows with Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar.
- Experience improving internal tooling, developer workflows, documentation systems, or team enablement practices.
- Strong user research instincts and the ability to turn insights into product direction.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams within a software organisation.
- Confidence influencing stakeholders and building alignment across teams.
Benefits:
- Our employees enjoy free breakfast every day, coffee, drinks and snacks all day, every day.
- Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we order food for our weekly team lunches where everyone gets together for an hour of fun.
- We have regular team events (dinner, bowling, karting, poker nights, board-games etc.) for our team to get to know each other outside of work.
- Professionally, we host in-house conferences and an annual summer camp for all our global employees who are flown to and hosted in London.
- We ensure that all our employees also get pension contributions, the latest tech, generous annual leave and an amazing office with a balcony overlooking Notting Hill.
