Echo Project Services Ltd - Cost Consultancy

Echo is an independent, forward-thinking construction cost consultancy built around a simple principle – providing great advice, building strong relationships and delivering real value for our clients.

We work across a diverse range of sectors, with particular expertise in commercial fit-out, refurbishment and high-end residential projects. Our clients range from private individuals and developers through to established businesses, and we pride ourselves on delivering the same level of commitment, attention to detail and commercial understanding on every project.

We’re not interested in simply reporting numbers. We believe good cost management is about understanding the bigger picture, challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities and helping clients make informed decisions throughout the life of their projects.

Our approach is collaborative, proactive and commercially focused. We work closely with clients, designers and contractors to establish realistic budgets, manage risk, navigate procurement and deliver the best possible outcomes. We believe in finding solutions rather than creating obstacles, and in building relationships that last beyond individual projects.

As a growing consultancy, we’re equally committed to doing things differently. We embrace technology, modern working practices and fresh thinking, while maintaining the technical expertise and personal service our clients expect.

We’re building a business where people have a genuine voice, take ownership of their work and have the opportunity to grow alongside the company.

Role - Project Quantity Surveyor, Full Time.

Office location - Farringdon, London (Hybrid working)

We’re looking for an ambitious and capable Project Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team at Echo.

This is an opportunity to become part of a close-knit, developing consultancy where you’ll have genuine involvement in projects, direct exposure to clients and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the business.

You’ll work across a varied portfolio of projects, particularly within the commercial and high-end residential sectors, supporting and delivering cost management services from early feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account.

We want someone who enjoys being involved, is comfortable taking responsibility and understands that being a good Quantity Surveyor is about more than producing spreadsheets and cost reports. It’s about providing sound commercial advice, developing relationships, anticipating challenges and helping projects move forward.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing feasibility estimates, elemental cost plans, detailed cost estimates and option appraisals.
  • Managing project budgets and providing proactive commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Preparing tender documentation, undertaking tender analysis and advising on procurement strategies and contractor selection.
  • Supporting the administration of construction contracts, including valuations, variations, change control and final accounts.
  • Producing clear, accurate and meaningful cost reports, cash flow forecasts and financial updates for clients.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities early, and working collaboratively with project teams to manage them.
  • Reviewing design development and challenging costs to ensure value is achieved without compromising quality or project objectives.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, architects, consultants and contractors.
  • Taking ownership of project deliverables, managing priorities and contributing to the successful delivery of multiple commissions.
  • Supporting the continued development of Echo’s systems, processes and use of technology to improve how we deliver our services.

You’ll work closely with the company Director and wider team, with the support and autonomy to develop your own client relationships and project responsibilities as your experience grows.

Qualifications and Experience -

We’re looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a proactive attitude and the confidence to contribute within a growing consultancy.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a construction consultancy or similar commercial environment, ideally across both pre-contract and post-contract services.
  • Strong cost planning, measurement, procurement and cost management capabilities.
  • A sound understanding of construction contracts, particularly JCT forms, and the practical application of contract administration.
  • Experience preparing cost reports, valuations, tender documentation and final accounts.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and Excel skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, contractors and professional teams.
  • A commercially minded approach, with the confidence to challenge, question and offer solutions.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • An interest in technology and improving the way traditional quantity surveying services are delivered.
  • MRICS status, progress towards chartership or an ambition to achieve professional accreditation would be advantageous.

Just as importantly, we’re looking for the right person.

Someone who is personable, motivated and genuinely enjoys working with people. Someone who takes pride in their work, is willing to get involved and wants to be part of building something rather than simply filling a position.

Why join Echo?

We’re still relatively early in our journey as a business, but we’ve established a strong and growing portfolio of projects, built trusted client relationships and created an environment where everyone has the opportunity to make an impact.

Joining Echo means becoming part of a business where your contribution will be recognised, your ideas will be heard and your professional development will be actively supported.

We offer a collaborative team environment, flexible hybrid working from our Farringdon office, exposure to interesting and challenging projects, and the opportunity to grow your career as the business continues to develop.

The role will come with a highly competitive salary and benefits package, including a bonus and rewards structure that recognises individual contribution and the success of the wider business.

As Echo continues to grow, we’re committed to ensuring that the people who contribute to that success are recognised and rewarded accordingly.
