Our client is looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a modern fleet and a fully equipped workshop, where you will play a key role in keeping vehicles safe, compliant, and operational.
Working closely with the Transport and Operations teams, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a mixed fleet of HGVs and support vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a modern mixed fleet of HGVs
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults
- Complete vehicle safety inspections and MOT preparations
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex vehicle issues using diagnostic equipment
- Work closely with the Transport team to ensure efficient scheduling of repairs and maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed, parts used, and faults identified
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company and industry safety standards
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
- Time-served HGV Technicians are welcome to apply
- Strong knowledge of modern HGV systems and repair techniques
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and workshop software
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- An interest in supporting and mentoring apprentices would be advantageous
