We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cook Room / Pastry Operative to join our production team in Wellingborough. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, mixing, and cooking ingredients to agreed standards while ensuring food safety and quality procedures are followed at all times. This is a fast‑paced food production environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and maintaining high hygiene standards are essential.

Pay & Shift Details

  • £12.95 per hour during probation
  • Increase to £13.90 per hour after successful 3‑month probation
  • 15% night shift premium
  • Shift: 04:00 – 13:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and mix ingredients ready for production lines
  • Follow recipes accurately and ensure correct measurements
  • Carry out CCP procedures and food safety checks
  • Complete all compliance paperwork and production records
  • Perform pre‑start checks to maintain food safety standards
  • Print labels and allocate ingredients correctly
  • Report any food safety or quality concerns to the Area Manager immediately
  • Follow allergen segregation procedures
  • Wear correct PPE at all times
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment using “clean as you go” practices
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
  • Work flexibly across departments when required

Requirements

  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Basic English, Maths, and computer skills (written and verbal)
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • FMCG or food production experience is beneficial but not essential as full training is provided
