We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff DFT Engineer to act as the sole DFT owner within the division on an interim basis. The team is heading toward tape-out by year end, this role is critical to maintaining momentum, stabilising DFT flows, and ensuring readiness through tape-out and early silicon.

This is a highly hands‑on position, suited to a self‑directed DFT engineer comfortable operating as a one‑person function, while pulling in support from the wider design and verification teams where required.

  • The initial contract duration is six months.
  • The role follows a hybrid working model, with flexibility across remote and onsite collaboration.
  • The contract engagement is structured as Outside IR35.

Key responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of DFT implementation for a large, complex chip through to tape‑out.
  • Work on and evolve industry‑standard DFT flows, avoiding overly customised or customer‑specific approaches.
  • Implement and maintain Tessent based DFT flows.
  • Deliver scan insertion, ATPG, and pattern generation.
  • Drive DFT into silicon prior to tape‑out, ensuring generated test content functions correctly on silicon.
  • Support ATPG bring‑up and silicon debug post tape‑out.
  • Focus on the integration‑heavy side of DFT, including physical implementation, scan, analog test, and system‑level integration.
  • Identify problems early, break them down, and drive practical solutions.
  • Coordinate with distributed teams across multiple geographies.

Required experience and skills

  • Strong, proven background in DFT engineering, typically with five or more years of hands‑on experience.
  • Deep understanding of scan insertion and physical DFT implementation.
  • Strong experience with ATPG and pattern generation.
  • Experience supporting silicon bring‑up and post‑silicon debug.
  • Experience working on large chips where prioritisation and capacity management are critical.
  • Comfortable defining, breaking down, and improving DFT flows independently.
  • Demonstrate a forward‑thinking mindset with the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Experience working remotely and collaborating across time zones.
