We are seeking a contract Hardware Engineer (PCB/board level design) to support hardware development and IC validation activities for our client. The role spans PCB design and hardware platform development, together with IC bring up, validation, and characterisation, as well as customer facing technical support. You will work closely with internal engineering and marketing teams to deliver high quality development platforms and proof of concept designs that showcase our clients next generation products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop PCB based hardware platforms and development boards for internal use and external customers
  • Perform IC bring up, validation, and characterisation of video and high speed data ICs
  • Debug and resolve hardware issues at board and system level
  • Create and maintain schematics and PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro (or similar tools)
  • Support customer design reviews and assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware related issues
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and marketing teams on proof of concept and demonstration platforms
  • Produce clear documentation for designs, validation results, and debug activities

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in PCB hardware design and validation, with proven ability to independently deliver board bring up and debug activities
  • Strong background in schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro (or similar PCB design tools)
  • Hands on experience with board bring up, debugging, and lab based validation
  • Experience with high speed digital interfaces (e.g. USB, display interfaces)
  • Solid understanding of signal integrity and power integrity fundamentals
  • Experience using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, protocol analysers, BERTs, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently in a contractor capacity

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with IC validation or silicon bring up
  • Knowledge of USB or display standards
  • Experience supporting customers or participating in design reviews
  • Experience developing proof of concept or demonstration platforms
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g. Python)
