We are looking to recruit an experienced Gardener to continue the development and maintenance of gardens on a private Estate in Gloucestershire.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day tasks; weeding and general garden maintenance
  • Grass cutting, strimming and mowing
  • Hedge cutting and pruning
  • Clean off paths to avoid slipping and check for slip hazards
  • Plant and maintain borders as necessary
  • Water and check the condition of the plants in the main house and change if necessary
  • Help arrange advance order fertilizers, compost, seeds and other sundries
  • Maintain the lawns, winter work, feeding, moss treatment etc
  • Plant, feed and water the various urns
  • Check the health of trees and take any action needed
  • Help control pests and disease (biological if possible)
  • Check all water features, ponds, and clean out if necessary
  • Spray paths and hard surfaces for weeds
  • Clearing leaves over winter
  • Care for chickens, daily egg collection, feeding, drinking water and cleaning out hutches
  • Care for the bees and collect honey

Attributes

  • You will have the energy, vision and passion to help evolve the garden
  • You will be confident using garden machinery (mowers, strimmer, hedge cutters)
  • You will be an experienced Gardener with a good eye for detail
  • You will be approachable, presentable and you will have a positive outlook
  • You will be able to work independently

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid UK driving licence
  • Hold NVQ or NCH or Diploma in Horticulture (desirable)
  • Have past professional gardening experience
  • Hold health and safety certificates such as first aid, spraying, chainsaw, sit-in ATV (desirable)

This is a working, hands-on role, so you will need to be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weathers.

Working hours: 8am to 5pm at least 3 days per week

Salary: dependent on experience.
