An excellent opportunity for a friendly and motivated Gardener & Housekeeper Couple to join the team managing and maintaining the house and gardens of a private estate near Alresford, Hampshire. The couple reports to the Lead Gardener and works alongside an additional Housekeeper and a groundsman.
The Grade II listed house, built in the late 1700s, is set within 35 acres of parkland with formal gardens of about 13 acres. The grounds have been restored in phases and feature expansive lawns, hedges, a pool, a large kitchen garden, and ornamental shrubbery with views across the South Downs. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Responsibilities:- Gardener: hands-on gardening duties, collaboration with the Lead Gardener, and flexible approach to work.
- Housekeeper: cleaning and tidying all areas, bed making, laundry and ironing, waste management, restocking cleaning supplies, and reporting maintenance issues. Work with House Manager on cooking for family and event support as needed.
Working Arrangements: Housekeeper hours: 4 days per week, 7 am to 3 pm, including alternate weekends when the owners visit most weekends. The Gardener will work closely with the Lead Gardener and should be self-motivated, organised, and adaptable.
Accommodation and Benefits: Rent-free accommodation is provided in a one-bedroom property attached to the main house with its own entrance. Council tax and all utility bills are covered by the employer.
Requirements: Driving licence required due to property location. Relevant experience in gardening and housekeeping. Proactive approach, strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team. References and DBS check will be requested at offer stage.
Salary: Combined salary: circa £60,000
