A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Skilled Gardener to join the team at Swinhay House Estate, working under the direction of the Garden Manager across a large and varied private estate. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong practical gardening experience, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine passion for horticulture and estate maintenance. The successful candidate will help maintain and continue developing the gardens and wider grounds to a consistently high standard.
Duties Include:
- General garden maintenance: weeding, planting, mulching, digging, bed preparation.
- Lawn care: mowing, edging, strimming.
- Hedge cutting, pruning and topiary maintenance.
- Seasonal planting and garden improvements.
- Watering and caring for plants within the Winter Garden and wider estate.
- Leaf clearing, sweeping and maintaining tidy working areas.
- Assisting with ongoing garden projects and estate improvements.
- Safe use and maintenance of garden machinery and tools.
- Supporting the Garden Manager in maintaining high presentation standards across the estate.
- Occasional seasonal and weekend working to cover events when required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ professional gardening or horticultural experience.
- Good practical plant and garden maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Hard-working, reliable and physically fit.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in work.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Relevant horticultural qualifications such as RHS Level 2 are beneficial but not essential.
