Part-Time Gardener – Vacancy
We are looking for an all-round gardener, to work part‑time, within a private house team. Candidates should either have 1-2 years of experience and keen to develop further, or candidates could be an experienced gardener looking for extra hours. The gardens are set within the grounds of a Grade I listed manor house and consist of formal lawns, herbaceous and shrub borders, a walled garden, wild flower areas and mixed woodland. The role is varied, with candidates needing to turn their hand to a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to, weeding, planting, pruning, deadheading, mowing, mulching, spraying and strimming.
The successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Enthusiasm and passion for gardening, with a good work ethic and a keen eye for detail.
- Basic plant and species knowledge with the aptitude to learn and develop this knowledge further (we are also open to receiving applications from very experienced candidates too).
- Sound practical gardening/horticultural experience.
- Excellent organisation and communication skills.
- Operate well as part of a team and equally be sufficiently self‑motivated to work alone as experience grows.
- A flexible and positive approach to challenges.
- A good knowledge and application of Health and Safety compliance.
- Competence with machinery/equipment use.
- Full and clean driving licence.
Salary: Commensurate on experience.
Working Hours: We anticipate the role being around 24 hours a week. We would be open to more hours if desired.
