Overview
An exciting opportunity for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Groundsperson to join a well-established residential park near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on a full-time, permanent basis.
This role involves outdoors work maintaining attractive landscapes, with a varied day-to-day routine.
You will work in a sole capacity to help ensure the park’s gardens, communal areas, and grounds are kept to a high standard throughout the year, creating a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
Set within peaceful and beautifully landscaped surroundings, the park features extensive communal gardens, mature trees, ornamental shrubs, established hedging, well-maintained lawns, seasonal flower displays, attractive entrance features, pathways, and communal green spaces.
The grounds are designed to provide a relaxing setting while show homes demonstrate the quality of the development to prospective buyers.
Responsibilities
- Care for the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the gardens and grounds; keep areas clean, tidy, safe, and visually appealing in all seasons.
- Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance and garden tasks: grass mowing, strimming, hedge cutting (hand-held and mechanical equipment), pruning shrubs, weeding, watering, mulching, edging lawns, leaf clearance, digging and preparing beds and borders, planting trees and shrubs, and seasonal bedding displays.
- Apply fertilisers where appropriate and maintain fences and other external features; carry out pressure washing of pathways and communal areas.
- Ensure all work reflects high standards expected by residents and visitors.
- Clean and present the interior and exterior of the park’s show homes; maintain immaculate presentation standards.
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee on-site work to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, horticulture, landscaping, or estate maintenance is preferred.
- Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery and a practical, hands-on approach to outdoor work; good plant knowledge is beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to other company sites when required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to interact with residents, visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills, reliability, physical fitness, and commitment to health and safety, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Working Hours and Benefits
Hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with flexibility during busy seasonal periods and park open days when additional support may be required.
