This role is ideal for a self-motivated and passionate horticulturalist eager to work in a stunning environment, contributing to the care and development of the gardens alongside a small, close-knit, and long-standing team.
The estate features beautifully maintained lawns, protected trees, vegetable patches, and a greenhouse, all waiting for an experienced hand to fully establish and develop. While much of the garden is well-maintained, certain areas require creative vision and expertise to bring them to life, offering an exciting opportunity for the new Head Gardener to leave a lasting mark. The position is ideal for someone who is proactive, self-driven, and thrives on turning creative ideas into reality.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of garden management, development, and seasonal care, ensuring that the grounds are maintained to the highest standards throughout the year. This includes working with the team to preserve the natural beauty of the gardens while implementing new projects to enhance the estate’s overall aesthetic.
The ideal Head Gardener candidate will bring at least 5 years of horticultural experience, ideally gained on private estates or within public gardens. Comprehensive plant knowledge, including expertise in woodland management, is essential, as are the relevant horticultural qualifications. In addition to technical skills, the Head Gardener will be expected to demonstrate strong communication abilities and a friendly, approachable nature, working both independently and as part of a team. A positive attitude, leadership qualities, and a love for horticulture are key to succeeding in this role.
