Skilled Gardener – Part Time -Vacancy
A passionate and motivated Skilled Gardener required to lead the maintenance of a recently planted garden surrounding a magnificent Lutyens/Jekyll designed house on an estate in Surrey.
Working closely with the garden designer, they will ensure the gardens and grounds are maintained to an exceptional standard whilst preserving their historic character and design integrity.
The estate consists of
- Herbaceous and shrub borders.
- Established climbers.
- Developing and established woodlands.
- Native heathland.
- Kitchen garden with vegetables and cut flowers for the house.
- Developing wildflower meadows and native hedgerows.
- Recently planted ornamental trees
You will need a good knowledge of good horticultural practices, be enthusiastic about stocking and caring for an ornamental kitchen garden, have good plant knowledge and be capable of supervising and instructing a general groundsperson (who will be responsible for grass and hedge maintenance) as well as managing external contractors.
RHS Level 2 (or equivalent horticultural qualification) is preferred although proven experience implementing maintenance programmes and caring for historic landscapes will also be considered.
Salary: Up to £40/hour. Part Time position three days a week on a self employment basis.
