Overview
As the team continues to grow, another fantastic opportunity has become available for a dedicated, and qualified Gardener to be part of the gardening team for the walled garden on a prestigious private garden near Andover. This opportunity would suit a Gardener with an RHS level 2 or equivalent and a passion for horticulture.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with a friendly and supportive garden team responsible for maintaining and caring for the walled gardens, contributing to its beauty and upkeep under the guidance of the Senior Gardener.
- Perform regular watering, weeding, pruning, and fertilising of plants in glasshouse environments and outdoors.
- Monitor and control pests and diseases in the garden; maintain garden tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Plant, cultivate, and maintain vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, flowers, shrubs, trees, indoor and containerised outdoor plants; carry out propagation of seasonal vegetables to provide replacement plants for displays.
Qualifications
- RHS Level 2 qualification or equivalent (essential).
- Previous practical experience in fruit and vegetable production preferred; additional experience in glasshouse displays is advantageous.
- Relevant machinery certifications (e.g., PA1 and PA6a) and experience using horticultural power tools; familiarity with compact tractors and small utility vehicles is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Valid UK driver’s licence required due to rural location.
- Physically fit, proactive, flexible, and willing to support other teams across the Estate.
- Trustworthy, discreet, reliable, and honest.
Additional Details
The Gardener will work in various areas of the Estate and may be required to work flexible hours, including weekends, as needed; time off in lieu may be given.
Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience
