Gardener Private Estate Surrey

JOB SPECIFICATION

A full-time gardener is needed for a private 17-acre Jekyll/Lutyens garden near Godalming in the Surrey Hills. The position is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include tending to beautiful ornamental gardens, requiring good plant knowledge. The role also involves occasional care for waterways, woodlands, and pathways. Flexibility is needed when owners are present to help maintain the estate.

You will report to the Head Gardener and Assistant Head Gardener, working alongside another full-time gardener.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Your own transport is essential due to the rural location.
  • Keen to produce a high standard of work.
  • Positive attitude and good team player.
  • Good plant knowledge.
  • Flexibility to undertake basic estate work, especially when owners are in residence.
  • Practical work experience in a professional horticultural environment.

A competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, is offered, along with a pension scheme. The role includes 28 days of holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays. When clients are in residence, the garden team operates on a Saturday rotation schedule, with time off in lieu. Working hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
