Gardener (Part-time)

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an energetic and knowledgeable Gardener to join a beautiful private property, on a part-time (2 days/week) basis near Bordon, Hampshire. This vacancy is open to either PAYE or self-employed Skilled Gardeners/Horticulturists in the locality. An hourly rate will be paid in line with the successful candidate’s experience.

The recently redeveloped 10-acre gardens offer a rich and varied landscape, thoughtfully designed to delight throughout the seasons. At their heart is the property surrounded by a large walled garden, a flourishing orchard, various rose varieties, expansive lawns, and meticulously curated mixed beds and borders. A tranquil pond adds a serene focal point.

The successful candidate will work closely with a part-time Groundsperson, allowing the Gardener to focus on the finer horticultural aspects of the garden. As the primary point of contact, the Gardener will play a key role in coordinating their day-to-day activities, be responsible for setting clear tasks and priorities, providing guidance and support, and ensuring that all duties are carried out efficiently and to a high standard. This will include overseeing routine maintenance, delegating specific responsibilities based on seasonal requirements, and ensuring the grounds and gardens are consistently well presented. The role requires strong communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to foster a collaborative and productive working relationship.

The ideal candidate will either hold an academic horticultural qualification and / or have experience working in a similar setting. Applicants must be confident with their plant identification skills and be self-motivated, enjoy working to a high standard and have a keen eye for detail. Physical fitness and energy are essential as this is a hands-on role.
