A rare opportunity has arisen for a Skilled Gardener to work closely with the Head Gardener on a 40-acre estate near Shipston-on-Stour. The estate includes 4 acres of naturistic style gardens with formal elements. The current gardens feature a modest vegetable garden, mixed borders, large lawns, parterre, formal yellow garden, and a Ha-ha. Plans include a large orangery, topiary, greenhouse, and rejuvenation of a variety of plantings such as a large selection of roses, and potential future expansion.

We are seeking an experienced Skilled Gardener to work alongside a small team of three part-time gardeners, under the guidance of the Head Gardener. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and development of the gardens
  • Planting, pruning, feeding, and training of roses, perennials, shrubs, and climbers

Knowledge of high-standard lawn maintenance and use of associated tools and machinery is required. Applicants must have demonstrable experience in a private estate setting and a positive, hardworking attitude. A horticultural qualification is desirable. Tickets such as PA1/PA6 and chainsaw certificates are advantageous. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work and completes tasks to a high standard in a tidy, accurate manner.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:00pm, with 24 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays. DBS check required. Salary: Up to £32,000. Location: Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire.
