Situated in 42 acres of award‑winning landscaped gardens and grounds adjacent to the River Thames in Fulham, The Hurlingham Club is recognised as one of the world’s finest private member clubs.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate gardener, with good horticultural knowledge of garden plants and sustainable practices. The successful applicant will be given their own area of responsibility to maintain and develop, working under the Head Gardener and Senior Gardener.

The successful applicant will be expected to work, on their own or with the team, on a variety of garden projects, using their initiative to maintain the garden to a high standard, enhancing the planting schemes by utilising horticultural skills for the benefit of the gardens and wider grounds.

They will be required to safely use and operate a range of garden tools and machinery within a busy garden, as well as being able to demonstrate good time‑management skills in which they can balance the demands of the areas alongside seasonal team tasks.

The Candidate

Candidates will embody our Club values: excellence, responsibility and courtesy. They will also:

  • Hold a valid RHS Level 2 or equivalent qualification (required), as well as previous practical experience in the industry.
  • Have a genuine passion for wildlife, biodiversity and environmentally sustainable practices in horticulture.
  • Have previous experience in tractor driving, operating small machinery and holding a PA1/PA6 spraying certificate is beneficial but not essential.
  • A proactive, flexible and hands‑on approach is desirable.

Working Hours

39‑hour week, Monday to Friday plus regular weekend overtime (one in three weekend mornings).

Salary

Circa £35,000 DOE per annum.
