An exciting opportunity for a skilled Gardener has arisen to become part of an established team responsible for the development and maintenance of a unique private estate in Central London (NW8). The estate is 4.5 acres and features a variety of areas including but not limited to a vibrant mixed border, rose garden, bog/wet garden, and fruit/vegetable gardens. There are various water features and a number of manicured lawns. The garden is a hidden gem in the city and an exciting place to work and be part of as it changes.

The garden is diverse so the work is dynamic but some key responsibilities will include:

  • Bed and border maintenance
  • Water feature maintenance
  • Lawn maintenance
  • Leaf blowing
  • Path maintenance
  • Pruning

There is an opportunity for the right candidate to redesign and update areas of the garden, should this kind of creative work be of interest. Applicants will possess previous experience in a gardening role with a sound knowledge of gardening tasks across the seasons and an eye for maintaining high quality standards. They will be self-motivated, reliable, and passionate about gardening. Someone with a practical understanding of lawn maintenance is desirable. An applicant with a horticultural qualification is also desirable but not essential providing the applicant holds experience and a positive, can-do attitude. PA1 and PA6 qualifications would also be desirable.

The successful applicant will need to be comfortable with working independently, and as part of a team, and taking their own initiative at times to ensure the garden is kept in excellent condition. Working hours for this role are 8:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday with 22 days (+ bank holidays) annual leave. Overtime and weekend work will be necessary during busy periods which is paid at time and a half. Start date would be January 2025 but an earlier start date may be possible to accommodate for the right candidate.
