Overview
An exciting opportunity for a professional and dedicated Gardener and Housekeeper Couple to join a private estate in Wiltshire. This collaborative role offers the chance for both partners to work together, combining responsibility and variety.
The couple will divide their time between supporting the smooth running of the main residence and maintaining the estate’s extensive and diverse gardens. This is a hands-on position that requires teamwork, flexibility, and a genuine enthusiasm for country living.
Responsibilities
- Within the house, ensure the home is always prepared for the owners’ arrival and departure.
- Household duties including regular cleaning and housekeeping, hoovering, dusting, laundry, ironing, and keeping wardrobes and rooms in excellent order.
- Present the home in a welcoming and well-organised manner with a high standard of detail and care.
- Ad hoc activities may include driving and shopping.
- Gardening and grounds care across approximately fifteen acres, including a knot garden, an established orchard, a kitchen garden, ornamental planting, ponds, lakes, woodland, a swimming pool and a meadow.
- Garden tasks spanning lawn care, mowing, planting and pruning, tree, hedge and fence work, weeding, and equipment maintenance to keep the grounds in excellent condition.
- Maintain and develop the estate grounds with pride and in support of wider estate upkeep.
- General property maintenance and security, including ad hoc and periodic handyman activities, management of third-party maintenance contracts, and support for deliveries and visitor access.
- Caretaking of the estate pets (two cats) and willingness to provide all necessary care.
- One-bedroom cottage provided; Bills including heating, lighting, water and TV licence covered by employer, with Council Tax to be met by employees.

- Experience in a private estate environment with a combination of housekeeping, handyman and hands-on gardening skills.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and able to work as a long-term couple with high standards and pride in rural estate living.
- Ability to work closely together as a team to maintain a welcoming setting.
- Clear communication and flexibility to handle varied duties and ad hoc tasks.
- Love of cats and willingness to provide care for the estate’s two cats.
