The opportunity exists for a practical, enthusiastic, energetic and physically fit individual to join a multi-discipline team on a busy, Private Estate working under the guidance of the Family and the Head Gardener. The gardens surrounding the Main House extend to approximately 14 acres comprising extensive lawns, pleasure grounds with mature treescape and bulb and wildflower underplanting, kitchen/cut flower gardens and herbaceous borders. Within the historic parkland setting there is also a Walled Garden with a variety of fruit trees, which alongside the Kitchen Garden and a livestock enterprise, supplies a range of seasonal produce for the House and for Events.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Head Gardener and the Gardens Team in the maintenance of all aspects of the Gardens and Grounds to include:
  • Lawn mowing
  • Rough cutting
  • Hedge Cutting
  • Strimming
  • Irrigation
  • Herbaceous border and cut flower care
  • Kitchen and Walled Garden maintenance and harvesting

Required Skills

  • Valid Driving Licence
  • Good communication
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and PPE

Experience

  • Previous experience of the following will be an advantage:
  • Working in a dynamic Estate environment
  • NVQ level 1 or 2 / RHS level 1 or 2 qualifications
  • Use and maintenance of a range of ride on and pedestrian mowers
  • Use and maintenance of chainsaws, hedge cutting and strimming equipment
  • Integrated weed and pest management
