An historic Manor House in Surrey offers a great opportunity for a full-time live-out gardener to work within a small, friendly estate team, each with their own specific responsibilities. Together, under the direction of the Estate Manager and owners, they are dedicated to its maintenance and development.

The estate comprises extensive formal and informal gardens, ponds, woodland, large paddocks with a small herd of alpaca and a ten acre vineyard producing fine sparkling and still wines.

We are looking for someone who is, first and foremost, confident in their horticultural knowledge (including the use of powered garden machinery) and wants to extend that experience across a broad range of general gardening duties for which they will be responsible. They will also be required to provide assistance when needed in general estate and vineyard maintenance and in the set-up of various public and charitable events for which the estate and vineyard is well-known.

The ideal applicant would be adaptable, organised, have a positive and hard-working attitude, be physically capable (this can often be a demanding role) and keen to acquire new skills. Certification for knapsack spraying (PA1/PA6) and for basic chainsaw work would be ideal but not essential, as professional development training is available. A current full driver’s licence is a requirement.

A January 2026 start would be ideal and a competitive salary is offered depending on experience.
