Assistant Gardener/Groundsperson required for a private family estate in Stockbridge, Hampshire. Working as part of a small team helping to maintain the estate of 54 acres consisting of woodland, parkland, formal gardens and kitchen garden with greenhouse. The estate is maintained using organic and sustainable gardening principles. The role is suitable either as a Full Time or Part Time position, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining borders, weeding, pruning, division, planting etc.
- Formal lawn care and maintenance.
- Hedge cutting.
- Leaf collection and composting.
- Use of basic garden machinery – mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers, etc.
- Kitchen garden – fruit, vegetable, herbs and cut flower production.
- Pest and disease identification and control.
- Animal care – dog walking, poultry, koi carp.
Key attributes for candidates:
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Recognised horticultural qualifications are extremely desirable.
- Ability to work alone, under own initiative and as part of a small team.
- Excellent communication skills and a keen interest in horticulture.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Full clean UK driving license.
The ideal candidate will have a positive outlook and friendly character with good organisational and time keeping skills, along with a genuine interest in horticulture and estate work.
Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience and hours.
Working Hours: A Full Time 40 hour working week will typically be Monday to Friday, 7:30am-4.30pm. Full Time or Part Time position could be considered, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
