Gardener – Gardens and Parkland (Live out) – Prestigious Estate near Andover
As the team continues to grow, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Gardener to join the gardens and Parkland team on a prestigious private estate near Andover, Hampshire. This full‑time position offers the chance to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of a high‑quality estate, working under the direction of a Senior Gardener. The role is ideal for candidates with experience in amenity horticulture, estate gardening, or greenkeeping.
The area maintained by the Garden and Parkland Team is the Front Park with a ha‑ha and lake with cascading water, Arboretum, Lady’s Walk, Upper Park South and North, and Paddocks.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance of diverse and well‑established gardens and parkland, including general garden maintenance and assisting with planned horticultural works.
- Operate mowing equipment (pedestrian, ride‑on, tractor‑mounted), watering, weeding, pruning, planting, and fertilising across a wide range of planting schemes.
- Provide lawn care and turf management, monitoring and treating pests and diseases, and maintaining wildflower meadows, shrubs and trees.
- Conduct regular inspections, especially of high‑traffic and visible spaces, to ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standards while respecting the privacy of residents and guests.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in garden maintenance, lawn care, or all‑round gardening with practical knowledge of turf care techniques.
- Experience working with wildflower meadows is advantageous.
- Confident in operating a wide range of machinery, including ride‑on mowers, tractors, and turf care equipment.
- Desirable RHS Level 2 horticultural qualification (or equivalent) and relevant certifications such as PA1, PA6a, chainsaw use, and tractor operation.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions; willing to work occasional weekends (time off in lieu provided).
Benefits
Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience.
